Fifteen members of the Tellico Village Lions club joined 20 other east Tennessee Lions Clubs in preparing food packages for needy residents of east Tennessee. The event took place recently at The Hanger in Sevierville.Over 45,000 meal packs consisting of Mac & Cheese and Rice & Beans were prepared by 80 Lions for distribution through various community organizations who serve the needy in east Tennessee. This project supports One of Lions International global causes- fighting hunger worldwide.
The overall project was sponsored by “Operation Inasmuch” and consisted of two packing sessions closely supervised to insure health guidelines were followed. The packages, when completed, were distributed to each Lions Club in District 12N, who, in turn distributed them either directly to needy residents of their communities or through service agencies who support the needy. The TV Lions received 4,000 meals for distribution to the Good Samaritan Center in Lenoir City and Good Shepherd Center in Madisonville for further distribution to needy residents of Loudon and Monroe County. This continues the partnership between the Tellico Village Lions Club and Good Sams and Good Shepherd to serve the residents of their county.
